Two months after Kacy's stage II hemi, there was a few days that she was not eating well, not sleeping well and seemed not to be herself. We called her pediatrician who said it might be teething or an ear infection but to bring her in to get checked. The doctor only examined her briefly then told us he was going to call her cardiologist because he thought she might be in congestive heart failure. Once again our hearts sank to our stomachs. When he returned he told us her pc said it couldn't be chf but to come see him right away.

So we drove the 45 minute ride in 30 minutes to the hospital. Her pc immediately did an echo and put an IV of meds in her arm. He told the nurse to call down to admissions because he wanted to keep her there for a few days and when she asked for the reason he said CHF. We realize now he told her ped to tell us that so we wouldn't panic and get to the hospital safely. Three days later they let Kacy go home, with three medicines; digoxin, lasix and captopril. Kacy was back to her beautiful, smiley self, with no ill effects from heart failure.
